TLDR Post-COVID-19 hair loss is not linked to vitamin D or quality of life but is linked to hair graying.
This study investigated hair loss in 40 post-COVID-19 patients, primarily focusing on telogen effluvium (TE), vitamin D levels, and quality of life. The participants, aged 19-59, had ceased using anti-androgen or minoxidil for at least one month. The study found that all subjects were diagnosed with TE, with 90% being female. Despite variations in hair loss onset, duration, severity, quality of life impact, and vitamin D levels, no association was found between post-COVID-19 hair loss and vitamin D levels or quality of life. However, an association was noted between the presence of canities (graying of hair) and hair loss severity, suggesting the need for further research.
