TLDR The new placenta-derived liquid improves skin moisture better than traditional extracts.
The study developed novel placenta-derived liquid products for cosmetic use by fermenting and digesting porcine and equine placentas with the lactic acid bacterium Enterococcus faecalis PR31. These placenta ferment filtrates enhanced the proliferation of human dermal fibroblasts and epidermal keratinocytes, offering superior moisturizing properties compared to traditional placental extracts. The porcine placenta ferment maintained high stratum corneum water content for up to 6 hours post-application. Metabolome analysis indicated that lactic acid significantly contributed to these moisturizing effects, making the ferment filtrates advantageous for cosmetic applications.
