TLDR Glycyrrhiza glabra extract may prevent hair loss like finasteride.
The study investigated the effects of petroleum ether extract of Glycyrrhiza glabra on androgenic alopecia in male Wistar albino rats. Alopecia was induced in three groups of six rats each using testosterone. One group received no further treatment, while the other two were treated with finasteride and the G. glabra extract, respectively. Over a 21-day period, the treated groups did not develop alopecia, unlike the testosterone-only group. The results suggested that the petroleum ether extract of G. glabra had anti-androgenic alopecia activity comparable to finasteride, a standard treatment for androgenic alopecia.
