TLDR The seeds of Abrus precatorius, when processed, can prevent hair loss more effectively than common treatments.
In 2012, a study was conducted on the effects of petroleum ether and ethanolic extracts of Abrus precatorius seeds on androgen-induced alopecia in 24 male albino wistar rats. The study found that these extracts prevented the development of alopecia by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, a process that leads to hair loss. The extracts were found to be more effective than finasteride, a common treatment for hair loss. The study suggested that these extracts could be useful in commercial treatments for androgenic alopecia and other androgen-related disorders.
