Efficacy of Abrus Precatorius (Gunja) Seeds Oil as a Hair Growth Promoter (Keshya Rasayan) in Female Wistar Albino Rats

TLDR Abrus precatorius seed oil promotes hair growth and has antifungal properties.
The study investigated the hair growth-promoting effects of Abrus precatorius seed oil on female Wistar albino rats. The test group treated with 2% seed oil showed comparable results to the standard 2% minoxidil solution in terms of hair growth initiation time, completion time, hair length, hair follicle density, and anagenic percentage. Additionally, the seed oil demonstrated antifungal activity against C. albicans, similar to the standard antifungal drug Itraconazole. The findings supported the traditional use of Abrus precatorius seed oil as a hair growth promoter and antifungal agent.
