Pesquisa e desenvolvimento de produtos cosméticos para o público masculino com óleos essenciais: caracterização da pele, eficácia clínica, perfil de consumo e influência da publicidade
April 2021
The study explored the development and efficacy of cosmetic products with essential oils for men, focusing on skin characterization, consumer behavior, and marketing influence. It involved 66 male participants aged 18-28 in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. The research found a gap between Brazilian men and skincare products, with resistance to regular sunscreen use, leading to early photoaging and oily skin with comedones. Essential oils like melaleuca, lavender, tangerine, and eucalyptus were evaluated for safety and efficacy. Tangerine oil showed high skin penetration and concentration-dependent cytotoxicity, prompting adjustments in formulations. The developed sunscreens demonstrated improved SPF and visible light protection. The combination of sunscreen and nighttime formulations with essential oils improved skin barrier and morphology, indicating potential for increased male engagement in the cosmetic sector despite existing usage barriers.
