TLDR Beard hair extraction improves scalp hair restoration results in East Asian men with severe hair loss.
A retrospective study from 3 years ago found that extracting beard hair can improve the cosmetic results of scalp hair restoration in East Asian men with advanced androgenetic alopecia. Combining large-scale beard extraction with scalp hair restoration resulted in enhanced cosmetic results and high patient satisfaction. The study evaluated survival rate of transplanted follicular units, visibility of scars, and patient satisfaction. Topical antibiotics were applied to the donor site for 2-3 days, and patients were advised not to wash their transplanted hair until 2-3 days after the procedure. The study concluded that using beard hair extraction for scalp hair restoration in East Asian men with severe alopecia is safe and effective.
