TLDR Olive and Brazil nut oils improve hair strength, shine, and softness better than silicone.
The study evaluated the efficacy of hair care formulations containing Brazil nut oil, olive oil, and silicone (cyclomethicone) on untreated brown virgin hair tresses. The formulations included a shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in product. Results indicated that tresses treated with olive oil and Brazil nut oil showed increased break force, reduced combing force, and enhanced shine compared to those treated with silicone, which only provided superficial treatment. The study concluded that vegetable oils, such as Brazil nut and olive oil, were effective in improving hair cuticles, softness, hydration, and strength, making them a preferable choice for developing hair care products aimed at enhancing hair gloss and resistance to breakage.
