TLDR The chitosan/PDRN polyplex improved wound healing in diabetic rats.
The study developed a chitosan/polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) polyplex to enhance diabetic wound healing. The polyplex was characterized for its physicochemical properties, showing an optimal N:P ratio of 6 for effective PDRN release. In vitro tests demonstrated no cytotoxicity and improved cell proliferation and migration, while in vivo studies on diabetic Wistar rats confirmed superior wound healing and closure rates. The polyplex also promoted significant histopathological changes, including epithelialization, collagen deposition, and blood vessel formation, indicating its potential as a therapeutic product for diabetic wound healing.
