TLDR Young women in Karachi have low awareness of PCOS and its risks, needing more education.
The study evaluated awareness of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) among 151 young female students in Karachi, revealing a significant lack of knowledge about the condition and its risk factors. Only 15.9% were aware that PCOS could cause infertility, and 7.3% knew it could lead to anovulatory cycles. While 41.7% understood that lifestyle changes could mitigate adverse effects, the overall awareness of PCOS symptoms and risks was low. The findings highlighted the urgent need for increased education and awareness about PCOS among young women.
