TLDR Acne in PCOS can be managed with specific treatment strategies.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent endocrinological disorder among women of reproductive age, often manifesting in skin conditions such as hirsutism, acne, seborrhoea, female pattern alopecia, and acanthosis nigricans. While hirsutism and acanthosis nigricans are reliable indicators of PCOS, acne and androgenetic alopecia are less dependable markers of hyperandrogenism. This chapter focuses on the management of acne in PCOS patients, providing an overview of treatment strategies tailored to address the dermatological symptoms associated with the syndrome.
