TLDR The supplement with amino acids, iron, selenium, and marine hydrolyzed collagen improved hair growth more than drug treatment alone, with most people tolerating it well.
The study evaluated the effectiveness and tolerability of an oral supplement containing hydrolyzed fish-origin collagen, amino acids, and micronutrients in 83 subjects with hair loss. The subjects were divided into two groups: Group A (48 subjects) received the oral supplement and a specific drug treatment, while Group B (35 subjects) received only the drug treatment. After 12 weeks, the Global Assessment Score (GAS) was higher in Group A, indicating better hair growth. Specifically, 85.4% of patients in Group A showed an increase in GAS compared to 48.6% in Group B. The supplement and the therapies were generally well tolerated, with no significant gastro-intestinal adverse effects reported in the majority of subjects.
