Nutritional Assessment of Selected Emerging Adult Women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

    TLDR Women with PCOS risk had normal height and blood tests but higher weight and common acne or hirsutism.
    The study assessed the nutritional status of 57 emerging adult women aged 18-23 years at risk for PCOS using anthropometric, biochemical, and clinical parameters. The findings indicated that while the mean height was within the standard range, the body weight, BMI, waist and hip circumference, and WHR were higher than normal. Biochemical parameters such as FBS, fasting insulin, total testosterone, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and TGL were within normal ranges. Clinically, 44% of participants had acne, 33% had hirsutism, 4% had dark skin discoloration, and 9% had both acne and hirsutism.
