Development of a Novel Penetration-Enhancing Agent for Hair Products

HAIRCARECUBE TM (HCC) is a newly developed additive designed to enhance the penetration of active ingredients into hair. Researchers found that lyotropic liquid crystal, which increases skin's absorption of medications, could also be used to improve hair permeability. In their study, fluorescein-HCC was used as a proxy for hair dye, and it showed strong fluorescence within the hair core, indicating deep penetration. The intensity of this fluorescence was directly related to the concentration of HCC and was consistent across different pH levels. Similar results were observed with oxidative hair dye. Additionally, combining HCC with hydrolyzed keratin resulted in an increased restorative effect on hair. These findings suggest that HCC effectively facilitates the delivery of pigments and other active substances into the hair, making it a promising component for functional cosmetic hair products.
