TLDR MOTILIPERM may help treat male infertility by reducing stress in cells.
The study investigated the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS)-based endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in male infertility using a rat model of varicocele (VC) and treatments with cisplatin (CIS), adriamycin, or finasteride (FINA). The researchers evaluated the therapeutic efficacy of MOTILIPERM, a mixture of extracts from three medicinal herbs, in these models. Results showed that MOTILIPERM significantly increased left testis weight, testosterone levels, sperm motility, count, and spermatogenic cell density in VC-induced and drug-administered groups. Additionally, MOTILIPERM decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) and ROS/reactive nitrogen species (RNS) levels while increasing the GSH/GSSG ratio. The study concluded that ROS-related ER stress played a major role in male infertility induced by VC, FINA, CIS, or adriamycin, and that MOTILIPERM could be a useful therapeutic supplement or herbal medication for treating such infertility.
