TLDR The neem oil emulgel effectively treats dandruff and is easy to use on the scalp.
The study developed and characterized a topical emulgel containing neem oil for its anti-dandruff properties. Five formulations were prepared using the polymer carbopol-934, with formulation F5 showing the highest efficacy. The emulgel demonstrated a 65.27% release of neem oil after 8 hours in vitro and exhibited a significant antifungal effect against Candida albicans, with a zone of inhibition of 12 mm. The emulgel formulation offers advantages such as controlled dual release, optimal spreadability, stability, aesthetic appearance, and adherence to the scalp, with a pH similar to that of the scalp.
