TLDR The emulgel formulation F6 released more Minoxidil than the gel formulation F1.
The study aimed to develop and evaluate a Minoxidil emulgel for treating androgenic alopecia and compare it with Minoxidil gels. Minoxidil was dissolved in a water and propylene glycol solvent system, combined with liquid paraffin, and mixed with carbopol gel to form the emulgel. Eight formulations were prepared, four gels and four emulgels, and evaluated for physicochemical properties, in vitro drug release, and ex vivo permeation. The emulgel formulation F6 showed a higher cumulative release (72.31%) after 8 hours compared to the gel formulation F1 (56.30%).
