TLDR miR-150 helps blood vessel cells develop and speeds up blood clot healing.
This study investigated the role of miR-150 in endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) differentiation and its impact on venous thrombosis resolution. Researchers isolated EPCs from healthy adults and manipulated miR-150 levels to observe changes in gene expression, proliferation, and angiogenic capacity. Overexpression of miR-150 in early EPCs promoted their differentiation into endothelial colony-forming cells (ECFCs), enhancing proliferation and tube formation, while suppression in late EPCs had the opposite effect. The study identified that miR-150 influences these processes through the inhibition of c-Myb and activation of the Akt/FOXO1 pathway. In a rat model, miR-150 improved the resolution of venous thrombosis, suggesting a novel miRNA-mediated mechanism for thrombus resolution.
