TLDR Low hemoglobin levels are significantly correlated with hair loss in women with Telogen Effluvium.
The study examined the correlation between micronutrient deficiencies and Telogen Effluvium (TE), a common hair loss condition. The micronutrients studied were Hemoglobin (HGB), ferritin, Vitamin B12 (Vit-B12), folic acid, Vitamin D (Vit-D), and zinc. The study involved 916 patients, predominantly females aged 20-30 years. The results showed that 44% of the 755 patients with ferritin data had low ferritin levels, but no significant correlation was found between ferritin levels and TE. Similarly, no significant correlation was found between TE and Vit-B12 or folic acid deficiencies. The study could not establish a correlation between Vit-D levels and TE due to insufficient data. Only 4.5% of the 44 patients with zinc data had zinc deficiency, and no significant correlation was found with TE. However, a significant positive correlation was found between HGB level and TE in female patients. The study concluded that a complete blood count can be used as an initial test to manage TE patients cost-effectively.

community Are carbohydrates needed for hair growth

A 47-year-old male experienced significant hair loss after losing 37 kg in 6 months on a low-carb diet and started taking biotin, zinc, iron, selenium, and spectral dcn-n. Replies suggest that while carbs are not directly needed for hair growth, they help regulate hormones and nutrient absorption, and rapid weight loss can also contribute to hair loss.
