TLDR Minor skin injuries can boost hair growth by increasing TNF-α.
The study investigates the role of microinjury-induced TNF-α in hair regeneration using C57BL/6N mice. It was found that microneedle (MN) treatment, which causes minor epidermal injury, leads to a TNF-α surge that promotes hair growth. This was evidenced by increased Wnt proteins and VEGF expression, thickened epidermis, and longer hair follicle length in the MN-treated and plucking control groups. Conversely, the application of a TNF-α blocker slowed hair growth, highlighting TNF-α's crucial role in the hair regeneration process.
