TLDR Researchers developed a method to measure active ingredients in a hair loss treatment cream.
In 2018, Fedorovska, Polovko, and Grudko developed a medicated cosmetic cream (MCC) for the prevention and treatment of androgenic alopecia (AA). The cream contained saw palmetto extract and Sophora japonica tincture. The researchers identified flavonoids and phytosterols as the biologically active substances (BAS) in the cream. Using the method of adsorption spectrometry (MAS), they determined the content of flavonoids to be 1.85 mg/g of MCC and the content of triglycerides and phytosterols to be 3.59 mg/g of MCC. The methods developed for identifying and quantifying these substances were proposed for use in the Quality Control Methods (QCM) for the MCC.
