TLDR Mesenchymal stem cells are effective and safe for treating various diseases in children.
The document from 6 years ago discussed the therapeutic potential of Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in treating various diseases in both adults and children. MSCs were found to be effective in treating autoimmune diseases, organ disorders such as damage or hypoxia, and certain congenital disorders like osteogenesis imperfecta and Spinal Muscular Atrophy. The study particularly focused on the application of MSCs in treating patients under 18 with different types of Graft-versus-Host Disease (GvHD). The only adverse effect noted was fever. Long-term animal studies showed that cell therapy using MSCs was both effective and safe, and the number of indications for their use in human treatment was increasing. The results supported the use of MSCs in treating diseases that were ineffective when treated with other approaches.
