TLDR Melatonin could be an effective treatment for Alzheimer's Disease and rosacea.
The study used bioinformatics and network pharmacology to investigate the therapeutic role of Melatonin (MLT) in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and rosacea, a chronic skin disease. The research identified 747 genes shared between AD and rosacea, and 24 key transcription factors (TFs) involved in inflammation, blood vessel development, and apoptosis. Three potential drugs were identified for treating AD and rosacea, with MLT being the most promising. In experiments, MLT significantly improved rosacea-like symptoms in mice, reduced inflammation, and suppressed blood vessel formation. The study concluded that MLT could be an effective treatment for both AD and rosacea.
