TLDR The treatment was effective for the puppy's skin and intestinal infections.
This case report evaluates the effectiveness of a treatment regimen for a local breed female puppy named Selen, who presented with severe itching (pruritus level 8/10), hair loss, crusts, erythema, and blood spots in mushy stool (fecal score 5/7). The puppy was diagnosed with scabiosis caused by Sarcoptes scabiei and ancylostomyosis due to Ancylostoma sp. infection, as confirmed by skin scraping and stool examination, respectively. Additionally, a Complete Blood Count revealed hypochromic normocytic anemia, lymphocytosis, granulocytosis, thrombocytosis, and eosinophilia. Treatment included the anthelmintic pyrantel pamoate (Cazitel®), the antiparasitic sarolaner (Simparica®), the antihistamine Chlorpheniramine Maleate, metronidazole antibiotics, and a vitamin B complex (Livron®). After 14 days, the puppy showed significant improvement with a decrease in pruritus to 2/10, hair regrowth, reduced crusting and erythema, and solid stool without blood spots (fecal score 2/7).
