They develop through complex signaling pathways from diverse cell origins, forming networks via lymphangiogenesis, which is the sprouting of new vessels from existing ones. Abnormal lymphangiogenesis is linked to various diseases, and understanding the mechanisms behind it has led to potential therapeutic targets. Clinical trials have shown promise in interventions targeting lymphangiogenic factors, which can regulate abnormal lymphangiogenesis and enhance treatment efficacy for multiple diseases. This document provides an overview of lymphatic vessel development, their physiological roles, and the significance of targeting abnormal lymphangiogenesis in disease treatment strategies.
