TLDR Lufenuron effectively and quickly treats fungal infections in dogs and cats without side effects.
This retrospective study evaluated the use of lufenuron for treating cutaneous fungal infections in 156 dogs and 201 cats. Dogs were treated with oral lufenuron tablets, resulting in a mean duration of 14.5 days to negative fungal culture and 20.75 days to lesion resolution. Cats received oral lufenuron suspension, with a mean duration of 8.3 days to negative fungal culture and 12 days to lesion resolution. In contrast, untreated control animals took approximately 90 days for lesion resolution. No adverse effects were detected, suggesting that lufenuron was an effective, convenient, and rapid treatment for fungal infections in dogs and cats.
