TLDR The lotion with menthol promotes more hair growth than the one without menthol.
The study investigated the hair growth-promoting effects of a lotion formulated with ethanolic extract of Phyllanthus niruri L. on male Wistar rats. Two formulations were tested: one without menthol (F1) and one with 1% menthol (F2). The lotion was applied topically, and hair length and weight were measured over 21 days. Results showed that F2 had a slightly longer average hair length (12.68 mm) and greater hair weight (23.00 mg) compared to F1 (11.21 mm and 15.83 mg, respectively), although the differences were not statistically significant. Both formulations promoted more hair growth than the control group. The addition of 1% menthol enhanced the hair growth activity of the lotion.
