TLDR Finasteride 1 mg helps prevent more hair loss in men with male pattern baldness.
The study found that treatment with finasteride 1 mg over a period of 5 years led to a significant and sustained decrease in the likelihood of developing further visible hair loss in men with androgenetic alopecia (male pattern hair loss). The decrease in likelihood was consistent across subgroups defined by baseline characteristics, and the treatment had an excellent safety profile. The study supports the view that DHT plays an important role in mediating progressive scalp hair loss in men with AGA, and finasteride 1 mg is an effective long-term treatment option for men with androgenetic alopecia.
