TLDR CK19 and Vimentin are proteins found in rat skin that help with skin renewal and maintaining cell structure.
Nine years ago, a study was conducted on the localization of Cytokeratin 19 (CK19) and Vimentin in Sprague Dawley Albino Rat Skin Tissue. CK19, found in the epidermis, hair follicles, outer root sheath, and nucleus of Merkel's cell, was associated with self-renewal and homeostasis in skin, as well as hair follicle regeneration and hair growth. Vimentin, a fibrous protein found in the epidermis, dermis, hypodermis, and nucleus of Merkel's cell, was believed to stabilize the structure of cells and the cytoskeleton of fibroblasts. Both CK19 and Vimentin were present in the nuclei of Merkel's cells, acting as fibrous proteins that make up the end of a nerve fiber present in Merkel's cells and contributing to the paracrine function of these cells.
