TLDR UC.145 may be a new biomarker for predicting gastric cancer.
The study investigated the role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) UC.145 and PRKG1-AS1 in regulating the Wnt signaling pathway in gastric cancer (GC). UC.145 was identified as a potential novel biomarker for GC diagnosis and prognosis due to its conserved expression in cancer tissues. The research demonstrated that UC.145 regulates DKK1, an inhibitor of the Wnt pathway, by targeting PRKG1-AS1, affecting the overall survival of GC patients. Inactivation of UC.145 resulted in increased apoptosis and reduced growth, migration, invasion, and colony formation in GC cells. The study involved 100 tissue samples from GC patients and highlighted the potential of these lncRNAs as biomarkers and therapeutic targets, as they are involved in the epigenetic regulation of DKK1, affecting cancer cell proliferation and invasion.
