TLDR LiPADI is a useful tool for monitoring the severity and treatment of lichen planus.
The study developed the Lichen Planus Activity and Damage Index (LiPADI) as a tool to assess the severity and progression of lichen planus (LP), a chronic autoimmune disease affecting skin, mucosa, nails, and hair. LiPADI evaluated skin lesions in nine locations, considering factors like erythema, hypertrophy, scaling, hyperpigmentation, and scarring. It also assessed mucosal lesions, nail abnormalities, hair loss, and scarring alopecia. The tool's effectiveness was validated by comparing it with quality of life measures and other clinical assessments, showing it accurately reflected patients' conditions and was versatile for various LP forms and locations. LiPADI was concluded to be a useful tool for monitoring LP severity and treatment effectiveness.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.

White spots on a bald scalp, likely tinea versicolor, can be treated with ketoconazole or selenium sulfide shampoos like Selsun Blue. Consulting a dermatologist is recommended for proper diagnosis and treatment.
