TLDR Henna helps wounds heal faster and better.
The review article explores the potential of Lawsonia inermis Linn. (henna) in promoting wound healing, highlighting its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Key findings include the presence of lawsone, which has significant antibacterial activity, aiding in faster wound healing by reducing infections. Studies on animal models, such as rats and rabbits, show that henna extracts improve wound contraction, collagen synthesis, and re-epithelialization. Additionally, henna combined with honey enhances burn wound healing and hair growth at the wound site. The review suggests that henna could be a safer and more effective alternative to synthetic antimicrobial agents, which often lead to resistance and adverse effects.
