The study evaluated a polyherbal hair oil formulated from various herbs, including Allium cepa and Trigonella foenum-graecum, for its potential to promote hair growth. The oil, which included a 50% mixture of Cocos nucifera, was assessed for physical properties, stability, and phytochemical content. It was found to be stable for 45 days, with a suitable pH and viscosity for hair application. Phytochemical screening revealed beneficial compounds like saponins, sulfur, and ascorbic acid. In vivo tests on rats showed significant hair growth promotion compared to a control group, with treated rats exhibiting longer and heavier hair. The oil also demonstrated antimicrobial properties and was non-irritating to the skin, suggesting it could be an effective topical treatment for hair growth.
