TLDR Tea leaf extract tonic promotes hair growth better than controls but has stability issues.
The study evaluated the stability and hair growth activity of a hair tonic formulated with tea leaf ethanol extract (Camellia sinensis). The tonic was tested for organoleptic properties, homogeneity, and pH, and compared against a positive control (Johnny Andrean hair tonic) and a negative control (base hair tonic preparation). Over 28 days, hair growth was measured, showing that the tea leaf extract tonic (HTE) resulted in a greater increase in average hair length compared to both controls. The statistical analysis confirmed significant differences in hair growth between the groups, indicating the potential effectiveness of the tea leaf extract in promoting hair growth. However, the tonic showed some instability, becoming slightly cloudy and inhomogeneous during accelerated stability testing.
