TLDR Researchers cloned a gene from Xinjiang fine-wool sheep, finding it very similar to other sheep and somewhat similar to goats, humans, and rabbits.
Researchers successfully cloned the KAP6.1 gene from Xinjiang fine-wool sheep, obtaining a 320-bp sequence with a 252-bp coding region. The genetic analysis revealed that the sequence homology of Xinjiang fine-wool sheep was 99.2% with other sheep, 94.8% with goats, and showed 13 nucleotide differences. The homology with humans and rabbits was 80.8% and 75.1%, respectively.
