TLDR Doppler ultrasonography can effectively detect blood flow changes in women with PCOS.
This study assessed Doppler hemodynamic changes in ovarian stromal arteries in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) compared to normal ovulatory fertile women. Using transvaginal Color Doppler technique, the study measured intra-ovarian Doppler artery indices, specifically the Resistive index (RI) and pulsatility index (PI), in 200 women (100 with PCOS and 100 controls). Results showed that women with PCOS had lower RI and PI values in their ovarian stromal arteries compared to controls, indicating that these hemodynamic changes can predict PCOS. The study concluded that Doppler ultrasonography is an effective tool for assessing these changes in PCOS patients.
