TLDR Most women with PCOS have insulin resistance, especially those with phenotype B.
This cross-sectional study in Iran assessed insulin resistance (IR) among 160 women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and found that 74.4% had IR, with phenotype B showing the highest rate (91.9%). Significant associations were observed between IR and PCOS phenotypes, economic status, and hemoglobin levels. The study emphasizes the importance of identifying PCOS phenotypes for better management of the condition and its complications, though further research is needed.
