TLDR Suaeda monodiana extract may help treat skin diseases due to its protective and healing properties.
The study assessed the biological activities of the methanolic extract from the Algerian species Suaeda monodiana, focusing on its potential for enhancing wound healing. The extract demonstrated significant antioxidant and photoprotective activities, with a sun protection factor of 46.49±0.05. It effectively inhibited protein denaturation and protected erythrocyte membranes, with IC50 values of 1.22±0.8 mg/mL and 2.39±0.3 mg/mL, respectively. The extract also exhibited hemostatic properties by significantly shortening clotting time and showed antimicrobial activity against seven strains, with minimum inhibitory concentrations ranging from 31.25 to 250 µg/mL. These findings suggest that S. monodiana could be beneficial in pharmaceutical formulations for treating skin diseases.
