TLDR A special dressing called FEA-PCEI can speed up wound healing, reduce scars, and help grow new hair follicles, but only at the right dosage.
The study investigated a bioactive dressing, FEA-PCEI, designed to accelerate wound healing and hair follicle neogenesis. The dressing demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties by stimulating macrophages towards an anti-inflammatory subtype, and exhibited multifunctional properties such as temperature-response gelation, injectability, robust antibacterial activity, light-damage-resistance, homeostasis ability, and good cytocompatibility. The optimal dosage of FEA-PCEI significantly accelerated wound healing, reduced scar formation, and promoted hair follicle neogenesis. However, dosages too high or too low were not optimal for hair follicle and skin regeneration. The study concluded that FEA-PCEI is a promising dressing for wound repair and skin regeneration.
