TLDR Fenugreek leaf extracts significantly promoted hair growth in mice with alopecia.
The study concluded that Trigonella foenum-graecum (fenugreek) leaf extracts significantly promoted hair growth in mice with alopecia, outperforming the standard 5% minoxidil. Ethanol (5% and 10%) and petroleum ether (5%) extracts were particularly effective, with ethanol extracts also significantly increasing hair length. The leaves contained beneficial compounds such as carbohydrates, proteins, glycosaponins, flavonoids, polyphenols, and essential minerals like zinc. The findings suggested that further research is needed to identify the active constituents and compare the efficacy of leaf extracts with seed extracts.
