TLDR Washing hair daily is better and preferred, with no negative effects.
Two studies on Asian populations without specific scalp pathologies examined the impact of shampoo wash frequency on scalp and hair conditions. The epidemiological study found that washing hair 5-6 times per week resulted in the highest satisfaction levels, both objectively and subjectively. A controlled study confirmed that daily washing was superior to washing once per week across all measures. No negative effects of frequent washing were observed. The conclusion was that higher wash frequency was beneficial and preferred, dispelling concerns about overcleaning.
