TLDR Image analysis can effectively identify changes in scalps affected by chemotherapy-induced hair loss.
This study investigated the morphological characteristics of hairless scalps due to chemotherapy by analyzing 612 images using the Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM). It involved 4 women with chemotherapy-induced hair loss and 30 women without chemotherapy. The results indicated that hairless scalps exhibited higher uniformity and inverse difference values, suggesting a smoother texture, while brightness, saturation, correlation, and entropy were lower, indicating changes in texture and quality. The study concluded that image analysis could effectively verify the morphological characteristics of scalps affected by hair loss.
