TLDR A 3.75-year-old girl showed that different body organs can grow at different rates.
The case study of a 3.75-year-old girl, referred to as El•Ma, demonstrated that different body organs could exhibit varying growth rates at different developmental stages. Specifically, the study highlighted that the growth of hair, in terms of its multi-element profile, and the growth in height and weight, could occur at different rates. This suggested that the partitioning in the intermediary metabolism of the body changed during various stages of growth, indicating that organ development might not be synchronized. This was the first known case to illustrate such differential growth rates in body organs.
