The study evaluated the effects of a hair essence product (HHRHG0202-80) containing five herbal extracts on hair growth and alopecia prevention, focusing on androgenetic alopecia. It tested the induction of mitosis in dermal papillae cells and the inhibition of type 2 5α-reductase. Three extracts (Glycyrrhizae radix, Corni fructus, and Coicis semen) significantly stimulated cell proliferation, while Biotae semen, Glycyrrhizae radix, and Coicis semen inhibited 5α-reductase activity. The product enhanced hair growth in C57b1/6 mice and inhibited alopecia in AGA mice, indicating its potential as a remedy for male pattern baldness and other alopecia conditions.
