TLDR Sea hibiscus leaf extract at 30% concentration in a hair tonic significantly increased hair growth in guinea pigs.
The study aimed to formulate a hair tonic using ethanol extract from sea hibiscus (Hibiscus tiliaceus L.) leaves and evaluate its effectiveness in promoting hair growth on guinea pigs. The experiment involved 5 groups, including a negative control, three different concentrations of the extract (20%, 25%, 30%), and a positive control using minoxidil. Over 21 days, the 30% sea hibiscus extract showed the most significant hair growth, with an average hair length of 17.2633 mm and weight of 0.145 g, demonstrating a notable difference compared to other formulations (p < 0.05).
