TLDR Keratin essence protects and improves damaged hair.
This study evaluated the protective effects of keratin essence on hair subjected to physicochemical damage, using hair from a woman in her early thirties who had undergone multiple dyeing and digital permanent treatments. The hair was divided into four groups: control hair (CH), damaged hair (DH), basic essence-treated hair (BEH), and keratin essence-treated hair (KEH). The study found that keratin essence improved the hair's structural integrity, as evidenced by reformed and filled gaps between cuticle scales, compared to the DH group. The keratin essence-treated hair also showed different chrominance values, with lower brightness and yellowish-blue color but higher reddish-blue color. Overall, keratin essence was effective in protecting hair structure from damage caused by dyeing treatments, potentially enhancing coloring efficiency.
