Hair India 2010: First International Conference by Hair Research Society of India

    Hair India 2010, the first international conference organized by the Hair Research Society of India, was held at Mamallapuram and attended by 650 delegates from India and abroad. The conference featured a pre-conference workshop on trichology for 100 participants, presentations on hair biology, genetics, and disorders, and introduced the new BASP classification for pattern hair loss. Prof. Lidia Rudnicka highlighted the use of trichoscopy in diagnosis and monitoring of hair disorders, while Prof. Hemangi Jerajani presented a noninvasive ultrasonography method for studying hair diseases. The conference also discussed the pathogenesis of cicatricial alopecia and featured a variety of sessions on medical and surgical aspects of trichology, including original research presentations. Dr. Punit Saraogi won the first prize for his research on Trichoscan, and Dr. Deepal Deshpande received the second prize for her work on alopecia areata. The event concluded with plans for the next conference in 2012.
