TLDR Nothopanax scutellarium extract can effectively promote hair growth in male rabbits.
The study aimed to formulate a hair tonic using Nothopanax scutellarium extract and evaluate its effect on hair growth in male rabbits. Five formulations were tested: a control with 0% extract, and others with 25%, 35%, 45% extract, and a positive control containing minoxidil. Daily application of 1 ml was done for 21 days, with hair length measured on days 8, 15, and 22, and hair weight on day 22. Results showed that the 25% extract formulation had the most significant hair growth, with lengths and weights comparable to the positive control, indicating that N. scutellarium extract effectively promoted hair growth.
