TLDR Cabbage extract in hair gel may promote hair growth and could help treat hair loss.
The study examined the effects of Brassica oleracea (cabbage) extracts in a herbal hair gel on hair growth in albino rats. The extracts were applied to the rats' shaved skin, and the transition of hair follicles from the resting phase to the growth phase was analyzed, along with the expression of certain proteins. The pet.ether extract of B. oleracea was found to induce an earlier and longer growth phase compared to the control and the group treated with 1% minoxidil, as well as an increase in hair follicle number and size. The study concluded that the pet.ether extract has potential as a hair growth promoter, suggesting it could be used for treating alopecia, but highlighted the need for further research to understand the active components and their mechanisms.
