Hair Growth Promotion Effects of Polygoni Multiflori Radix Water Extracts in C57BL/6 Mice

The study investigated the effects of Polygoni multiflori Radix water extracts (PMWE) on hair growth in C57BL/6 mice. Female mice were divided into four groups: normal (N), vehicle control (VC), positive control (PC with 3% minoxidil), and experimental (E with PMWE). Treatments were applied topically for 4 weeks. Both PMWE and minoxidil accelerated hair regrowth and promoted hair follicle development compared to N and VC groups. PMWE was found to be safer than minoxidil, as indicated by fewer significant changes in organ weights and blood parameters. The study concluded that PMWE effectively stimulated hair growth and was safer than minoxidil.
